Earth Day Voting Spike

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Earth Day brought with it an almost 30% spike in daily votes cast!  As we push to break last year’s voting record, we were happy to see that Earth Day sparked more people to vote in the 2009 GREEN LOG Awards.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank this year’s sponsors and judges.  Chase has once again agreed to be our GREEN WORLD level sponsor.  Their continued support is very much appreciated. We are also very lucky this year to have such a great group of judges from a wide spectrum of the green building world.

As public voting continues, our dedicated judges are busy evaluating this year’s nominees.  2009 judges include: Jim Young, President of program founder, PrecisoinCraft Log Homes; Matt Franklin, Lead Designer, Mountain Architects Inc.; Charles Bevier, Editor, Building Systems Magazine; Allison Friedman, Editor, RateItGreen.com; Donna Peak, Editor, Country’s Best Log Homes Magazine; Barbara Kessler, Editor, GreenRightNow.com. Learn more about each of our 2009 judges.

So if you have already voted, THANKS!  If you haven’t, what are you waiting for?  And don’t forget to spread the word!

Green Log Awards Podcast Interview, Hear from the Chair

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Recently, BuildGreenRadio.com interviewed Jim Young, Chair of the GREEN LOG Home & Lifestyle Awards. You can now hear the complete interview at BuildGreenRadio.com/blog/.

In this interview, Jim Young discusses the inception, creation, and launch of the 2008 GREEN LOG Home & Lifestyle Awards. In his discussion with Scott Stroud from the Green Building Journal, Jim Young says, “This is really a public recognition program. We’re trying to get the public involved, everybody in the industry… I think the tagline ‘Building a Greener World One Home at a Time,’ really says what the objective is here; that we’re interested as an organization, and as a community, really, to promote the idea of green building. And, I think there’s a great deal of recognition out there that this is an important topic. So, people are getting on board, and I think that’s a great thing.”

In this interview, Jim Young also discusses log homes as a green building solution. Learn more about green building and log homes at PrecisionCraft.com.
